Ketchup Premium Burger Bar

January 28th, 2014 by Erik Chudy

looks dull!I have a handful of potentially decent places on my to-do list right now, but it’s starting to get very thin as I’ve tackled most of the noteworthy restaurants around town at this point. Even with a few new joints opening in the next couple months, we’ve had several long standing burger restaurants close down lately and the trend seems to be slightly fading to pizza and other things. That didn’t stop Planet Hollywood from opening up a new one though, a quietly announced spot called Ketchup Premium Burger Bar. Luckily the space is located right at the entry from the parking garage, saving you from having to walk through their dreaded mall. Still, is it even worth a trip to this tourist trap property? continue reading »

B&B Burger & Beer

January 16th, 2014 by Erik Chudy

strange garnishBecause Vegas didn’t have quite enough celebrity-backed burger joints, the Venetian recently opened the tongue-twisting B&B Burger and Beer by Batali and Bastianich. This restaurant replaces the short lived and highly touted Rattlecan, which served some fantastic burgers and had a great interior. There was a lot of drama surrounding their early demise, but rumors flew around of the space not being what the Venetian wanted to display, and other odd things. That rumor is slightly hard to believe when you look at the atrocity of design close by that is the Bourbon Room, so who knows. Regardless, this duo provides some great meals in other locations within the property and throughout other parts of the country, so surely it would be a good replacement? continue reading »

Citizens Kitchen and Bar

July 19th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

argh waffle fries!Other than a small handful of places I probably need to try, I feel like I’ve probably experienced most of the decent burgers in town at this point and am starting to fish for restaurants that serve an ok burger. Such is the case with Citizens Kitchen & Bar that recently opened in Mandalay Bay. No one has suggested I try their burger, but it’s a venue that pushes their comfort food, and what speaks more to that than a burger? Plus, with the rapidly declining quality of Burger Bar, Mandalay is in desperate need of a good burger. So could this be it? continue reading »

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill

June 11th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

melty! While almost all of my reviews are planned ahead of time through my always growing to-do list, every once in a while I end up at a random restaurant with clients and the chance to try a random burger. Such is the case with Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill, which is where I ended up at recently. Historically this scenario ends in disaster; I hate succumbing to peer pressure and ordering the default burger on some menu because I’m the ‘burger guy’ and everyone wants to watch me eat one, but in this case it actually turned out fairly well. continue reading »

Gordon Ramsay BurGR

January 7th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

that's a good looking burger! You’d think that after a couple years of eating burgers one would run out of places to go in a small-ish city like Las Vegas, yet my to-do list is constantly growing with places I’ve never heard of. And now along comes celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay with not one but three new restaurants in the past several months, including BurGR at the Planet Hollywood. There has been much hype about all of his new locations, especially Gordon Ramsay Steak at the Paris which supposedly has a 3 month backup for reservations, so the food must be good right? This made my expectations very high for one of his restaurants devoted solely to my favorite meal. But could it possibly deliver? continue reading »

Honey Salt

December 18th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

pretty burgerIt’s not very often any more that I’m excited to try a new burger in town, and when I do I really have to make a conscious effort to not set myself up for disappointment. Honey Salt recently opened in Summerlin, and as an overall foodie I’ve been very excited to try this new spot. While I didn’t make it there too often, I always enjoyed Nora’s that used to be in the space, both the menu and farm-to-table concept of its replacement gave me much hope. So after impatiently waiting a few weeks to let the crowds die down I finally ventured in there for dinner one night (and ran into foodie friend Splurgemonkey). Did it disappoint? continue reading »

KGB (a revisit)

August 27th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

wide plateEven though I have about two dozen places on my to-do list, once in a while I need to revisit a previously reviewed location due to either reader feedback or in the case of KGB, the lack of pictures and just a downright awful first review. So it was with great hesitation that I ventured back to Harrah’s last week to see if Kerry would be any better to me this time around. Was he? continue reading »
