Hans im Glück Burgergrill (Munich, Germany)

September 1st, 2014 by Erik Chudy

Munich (206)While eating a fantastic burger in Munich, the nice guy at our table told us about another very worthy burger in town at a place called Hans im Glück Burgergrill. He had already confirmed that the great burger we were eating was truly one of the best in town, so we took his advice and risked missing out on some great German food to see if we could find a second great burger in Munich. After all, a culture so focused on their meats and beers should surely be able to handle burgers across the board, right? continue reading »

Buddy V’s Ristorante

March 12th, 2014 by Erik Chudy

pretty burgerA long time ago I gave a not-so-positive review to my first experience at Honey Salt just a few weeks after they opened. Many months later I was invited back for a revisit to experience the tweaks and changes they made to their burger. Needless to say it was vastly improved, and I have been back many times since. During one of my more recent visits the fantastic Chef Joe Z told me about the new burger at Buddy V’s in the Venetian that I had to check out. Since he was the man behind two great burgers and many more dishes at Honey Salt, I had to make my way there. It took a few months, but I finally got over there the other day to see if he was able to create another successful burger in a completely different location. continue reading »

Du-Pars Restaurant and Bakery

October 24th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

bacon! After experiencing a severely disappointing burger adventure a couple months ago on Fremont St, I’ve been a bit hesitant to venture back over to some of the other recommended old school restaurants and test their burgers. El Cortez didn’t disappoint, but it didn’t have any of the fanfare that places like Du-Par’s have been getting from some local supporters. With little motivation to travel too far away from my office the other day, I broke down and decided to walk over to Fremont and give Du-Par’s a shot. And I’m actually glad I did. continue reading »

Tommy Bahama

July 24th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

great bacon hiding here! With burgers being such a polarizing topic, everyone seems to think they know they best around. So naturally everyone I know constantly recommends another place in town, half of which I dismiss because they just sound awful. Such is the case with Tommy Bahama when a contractor named David I’m working with in town mentioned it. Out of all the places people throw out there, a clothing store has not been one of them and instantly sounded awful. After much persuasion, and perhaps the offer of a free meal, I caved and went with him to check it out. Could a chain known for its clothes also sport a restaurant with a VBB-worthy burger? continue reading »

The Dillinger

April 25th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

looks tasty!I’m not sure how many of my readers regularly go out to Boulder City, but Vegas seems to be one of those places that everyone wants to visit. Tourists typically want to see the Hoover Dam so I’ve definitely made my way in this direction many times in the years I’ve lived here. Besides, Boulder actually has a cool little scene going on and The Dillinger is a bar I wish was located downtown around some of my other favorite spots. Since they opened, the folks at The Dillinger have been tweeting me to come try their burger. It took me a few months to actually make my way there, but now that I have I can say it was definitely worth the wait. continue reading »

SinCity Burgers (CLOSED)

March 27th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

might be ok?I still get excited when I come across a new place that no one has told me about in the hopes that I’ve discovered some gem in the city. But I guess my rule that if no one mentions a place it’s probably for a good reason, or it’s at least located in a part of town that no one would ever find it. In the case of SinCity Burgers (yes it is one word); I think the latter would apply, although the former is equally questionable. continue reading »

Create (CLOSED)

October 30th, 2011 by Erik Chudy

looks normal...I have been to Create a couple times in the past year or two, but not since I started the blog so I was long overdue for a return trip and full analysis. I remember liking it well enough in the past, so I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve had a string of not-so-good burgers lately but I left this most recent meal extremely happy. I know you’re not used to hearing these words lately around here, so please read on. continue reading »
