Claim Jumper

November 13th, 2017 by Jason Fishman

I was at Happy Hour at Claim Jumper in Henderson, and saw that they had the Widowmaker Burger on the Happy Hour menu. I ordered it medium-rare, and it came out and my first impression was that THIS THING WAS HUGE – I was in disbelief as to just how big it was. A thick patty (half pound) slathered in 2 thick slices of cheddar cheese with a few strips of thick cut bacon, 3 huge onion rings, avocado, and the standard lettuce tomato pickles and deliciously spiced buttermilk (I think) shoestring fries. continue reading »

Restaurace Jáma (Prague, Czech Republic)

September 17th, 2014 by Erik Chudy

Prague (176)After having a fairly successful couple of burgers in Munich, we thought we would test our luck again in Prague. I had read about a few decent burgers in the city, and our host confirmed that sentiment when we arrived with a list of a few burger restaurants to try. Plus, Prague is quite the beer city so they must have good burgers to accompany their drinks. The first one on his list was a place called Restaurace Jáma, which showed up on a few of my searches as well so we gave it a shot. continue reading »

English’s Quintessentially British (CLOSED)

December 24th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

look at all the tomato!I kind of hate going to completely unplanned restaurants and getting a burger; I think I’ve been around town long enough as the ‘Burger Blogger’ to have heard most of the places that people think I need to try, so when an opportunity to eat at English’s Quintessentially British came up I was quite skeptical. The burger picture on their website actually looked decent, not like I would want to judge anything based on photo alone, but I did become slightly more optimistic. But as all us locals hopefully know by now, there really isn’t any good food options at Town Square other than Meatball Spot. And to ruin the surprise, this meal didn’t change that. continue reading »

Honey Salt

December 18th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

pretty burgerIt’s not very often any more that I’m excited to try a new burger in town, and when I do I really have to make a conscious effort to not set myself up for disappointment. Honey Salt recently opened in Summerlin, and as an overall foodie I’ve been very excited to try this new spot. While I didn’t make it there too often, I always enjoyed Nora’s that used to be in the space, both the menu and farm-to-table concept of its replacement gave me much hope. So after impatiently waiting a few weeks to let the crowds die down I finally ventured in there for dinner one night (and ran into foodie friend Splurgemonkey). Did it disappoint? continue reading »

Skybox (CLOSED)

April 20th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

understated plateMy ‘Burgers to-do’ list in my phone is constantly growing, and I tend to knock off the ones I’m more excited about as opposed to places that have been on the list for a long time. Such is the case with Skybox at Aria, it’s been on my list for well over a year but I’ve had no desire to make my way in there. Having to be on the strip yet again for a meeting around lunch time I took the opportunity to check off one more typically avoided strip location. Was it worth the wait? continue reading »

Cruzers Burgers (CLOSED)

February 19th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

good looking mealI was recently contacted by the folks behind Cruzers to come give their signature burger a try. I appreciate the request, not only does it mean that more people are perhaps starting to read this blog, but maybe that some restaurant owners and chefs actually value my opinion. Well that’s wishful thinking at least. Either way I ventured there the other day for lunch to give it a shot. Both the Yelp and Urbanspoon reviews were very mixed so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Long story short, it wasn’t so bad. continue reading »
