The very latest from the desk of the Vegas Burger Blog…

Gordon Biersch

October 17th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

looks greatIf you’ve lived in Vegas for any length of time you have probably been invited to join a group of coworkers for Happy Hour at Gordon Biersch at some point. I’ve been there countless times in the 9+ years I’ve lived here for going away parties, or just random group gatherings, but never gave much thought to the quality of the food. So when I was recently sent over there during the day for another work related item, the suggestion arose for me to take the opportunity and check out the burger. I can’t say anyone has mentioned their burger to me throughout my time as ‘burger blogger’, so I was a bit skeptical by this idea but gladly took on the challenge as I always do. Continue Reading »

All-Star Burger Bash at MGM Grand

October 10th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

special passAs many of you know, last week I was invited to the All-Star Burger Bash at MGM as part of their 4th Annual food & Wine All-Star Weekend. I was extremely excited coming into this, as all eight burgers sounded great. Unfortunately what I forgot, but was quickly reminded of when I started eating, is that mass-produced, rushed food events such as this rarely produce great products. We noticed many sliders were missing ingredients from one to the other, and in many cases we could rarely taste all of the ingredients listed in their descriptions. Either way we had a great time, met some awesome people, and ate tons of food! Continue reading to see a brief rundown of each slider offered. Continue Reading »

MGM All-Star Burger Bash Preview

October 1st, 2013 by Erik Chudy

So yesterday I got invited to the All-Star Burger Bash portion of the 4th Annual Food & Wine All-Star Weekend at MGM and I’m pretty excited. The whole thing is a 3 day long set of food-centric events at the MGM Grand, but this is really the only part that pertains to me of course. It looks like tickets are still available for several of the events, so if you’re interested definitely go check it out for yourself. I will be at the MGM Grand Pool on Saturday from 1:30-3:30 to sample the many different burgers that are being featured. Needless to say, I probably won’t be eating breakfast beforehand. Rx Boiler Room

September 18th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

calm before the stormThis is one of those meals that was so disastrous that I had to wait several days to write the review with a cool head. Plus, I’m sure the events below are identifiable enough for the wait staff to remember exactly who we were. Whatever, this is what I do. I recently had a surprisingly excellent burger at RM Seafood, so I was really excited to head upstairs and try the new one on the menu at Rx Boiler Room. But as you can see from my comments this didn’t go so well, and the downstairs restaurant is nothing like the upstairs one. I’m sure this post will follow with complaints, and I can’t wait to receive them! Continue Reading »

Rollin Smoke BBQ

September 11th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

huge! One of the things I like almost as much as burgers is a good pulled pork sandwich, so after hearing several great comments about Rollin Smoke BBQ I had to check it out. I ventured over there for lunch a few weeks ago with a hunger for some great BBQ, but as I was browsing their menu I spotted a burger with the statement “best burger in Vegas” and my focus shifted to validating this lofty claim. I think 99.9% of the time any menu that claims this about a burger, coffee or whatever the food may be never turns out to be true, but how can I truly tell until I sample it for myself? So once again I skipped my desired meal to test an unknown burger for you all. What a tough life I have. Continue Reading »

San Diego Burgers

August 22nd, 2013 by Erik Chudy

As I’ve done in the past, I wanted to talk about a few out of state burgers I was recently able to try for any of my readers that like to have an idea of what else is out there. Over July 4th weekend we took a trip to San Diego, where I was able to try a couple burgers. One of them was planned, and didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped, while the other last minute choice ended up being a welcome surprise. Continue Reading »

RM Seafood

August 21st, 2013 by Erik Chudy

pickles! One of my long time favorites in town, Burger Bar, has seriously gone downhill in recent visits. This drop in quality has left Mandalay Bay with an opening for someone to step in with a great burger. Citizen’s recently failed to do so, but some recent messages from a few readers let me to an unassuming location: RM Seafood. Going into a seafood restaurant to try a burger seems blasphemous, but I’m around for one task regardless of the type of venue. I’ve also gotten a tip that the newly opened Rx Boiler Room has a great burger, but that will have to be tackled soon on another trip. Continue Reading »
