Buddy V’s Ristorante

pretty burgerA long time ago I gave a not-so-positive review to my first experience at Honey Salt just a few weeks after they opened. Many months later I was invited back for a revisit to experience the tweaks and changes they made to their burger. Needless to say it was vastly improved, and I have been back many times since. During one of my more recent visits the fantastic Chef Joe Z told me about the new burger at Buddy V’s in the Venetian that I had to check out. Since he was the man behind two great burgers and many more dishes at Honey Salt, I had to make my way there. It took a few months, but I finally got over there the other day to see if he was able to create another successful burger in a completely different location. continue reading »

B&B Burger & Beer

January 16th, 2014 by Erik Chudy

strange garnishBecause Vegas didn’t have quite enough celebrity-backed burger joints, the Venetian recently opened the tongue-twisting B&B Burger and Beer by Batali and Bastianich. This restaurant replaces the short lived and highly touted Rattlecan, which served some fantastic burgers and had a great interior. There was a lot of drama surrounding their early demise, but rumors flew around of the space not being what the Venetian wanted to display, and other odd things. That rumor is slightly hard to believe when you look at the atrocity of design close by that is the Bourbon Room, so who knows. Regardless, this duo provides some great meals in other locations within the property and throughout other parts of the country, so surely it would be a good replacement? continue reading »

Rattlecan (CLOSED)

January 2nd, 2013 by Erik Chudy

BK?Ever since I first got word of Rattlecan on the Eater website many months ago I’ve been excited about it; not only did it look totally cool, but it was backed by Chef Sammy D who has already made a pretty great burger in town. A few weeks before it opened I was able to do a quick walkthrough with a Venetian employee which did nothing to calm my excitement either. Plus since it opened, I’ve had many friends and readers chime in with how good the burgers are. All this has built up to quite the hype, so when I finally ventured in there this past weekend I was expecting quite a bit. So how did it hold up to all the pressure? continue reading »

Delmonico Steakhouse

May 11th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

nothing crazyI feel like Twitter is pretty useless so far; I have an ok amount of followers I guess, but I feel like they’re all following so many people that anything I say gets lost in the mess of their feed. I could tweet all day and get very little response to anything aside from a couple loyal folks on there. And it was one such reader that led me to Delmonico recently for what he claimed to be an excellent burger. He’s a food writer in town so he should know what he’s talking about, right? continue reading »

Public House

March 8th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

looks similarAs word continues to spread about this blog and I push to gain a bigger presence on Twitter, I continue to get requests to come try burgers in town. The latest comes from one of the newest additions to the Venetian; a little place called Public House. Unlike some of the other places that have invited me into their restaurants lately, these guys instantly claimed a fantastic burger and wanted me to put it to the test. This usually puts a lot of pressure on me because I hate telling someone their food sucks after they’ve invited me in to try it, but luckily this one held up pretty well. continue reading »
