Hank’s

January 19th, 2018 by Jason Fishman

I went to Hank’s Fine Steaks and Martinis in Green Valley Ranch. The ambiance is great – beautiful chandeliers, nice tables, and the service is very good as well. I ordered the burger, which, at $26 is one of the cheapest things on the menu. It did include fries, that sell separately for $11. The menu said that the meat was USDA prime ribeye. I wasn’t going to give up the chance to try a burger that sounds that good (even at the extremely high price), and of course, I ordered it medium rare, as I always do when given the opportunity. So how was it? continue reading »

Claim Jumper

November 13th, 2017 by Jason Fishman

I was at Happy Hour at Claim Jumper in Henderson, and saw that they had the Widowmaker Burger on the Happy Hour menu. I ordered it medium-rare, and it came out and my first impression was that THIS THING WAS HUGE – I was in disbelief as to just how big it was. A thick patty (half pound) slathered in 2 thick slices of cheddar cheese with a few strips of thick cut bacon, 3 huge onion rings, avocado, and the standard lettuce tomato pickles and deliciously spiced buttermilk (I think) shoestring fries. continue reading »

Emerald Island Casino Grill

October 31st, 2017 by Jason Fishman

This little hole in the wall casino, Emerald Island, in Downtown Henderson, right off of Water Street has a 24 hour diner with surprisingly nice decor, and tons of food specials. Their late night (11pm-6am) specials include a half-pound double cheeseburger. Being a burger connoisseur, I thought I should try their special… and at 6.49 including fries and a drink, you can’t beat the price (8.99 when it is not the middle of the night). continue reading »

First up is Carson Kitchen; a newer addition to our fair city located in the Fremont Street area of town. They feature an odd website, some fun small plates and of course a burger. Many friends have mentioned this burger to me in recent months, so I had high expectations. Did it deliver? continue reading »

The Great Greek

May 20th, 2016 by Benjamin Billings

The Las Vegas area has Greek places scattered all over, and the quality of these places is equally all over the map.  I found an odd one in Henderson that has a burger. So often times places that throw a burger onto the menu should have saved us all the trouble and left it off. This coupled with the “gonzo” nature of this offering made me dubious. Should you make the drive to Henderson for it?  Let’s take a look.
