VBB’s State of the Burger Address

April 20th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

I love all things BachiSomeone close to me recently pointed out that I have too many reviews in the 70-80 point range and that they’re not dramatic enough. I don’t think this is a fault of my own, but more the status of where we’re at with many of the burgers in town; a lot of above average choices, but not many that stand out and push themselves above that threshold of being fantastic. I couldn’t even tell you the last time I ate a new stand-out burger in town, and I eat at least one or two a week. In fact, I’ve had three burgers in the past week that didn’t satisfy me at all so I have been considering going back to Bachi again because I know they will at least deliver with something that I will love. continue reading »

the amazing Holeman & Finch burgerIn keeping up with the tradition of writing about burgers I’ve eaten in other cities, this past weekend I ate at two restaurants in Atlanta that I must mention.  Prior to my trip, Burger Boy had pointed me in the direction of two locations that I “needed” to visit based on some of his research, one of them being the much discussed Flip Burger Boutique.  Sadly, between the wedding I went to and the holiday, I wasn’t able to make it there. Most of the locals I spoke to said it was a great ‘fancy’ burger, so I’ll have to make it back there one day. The second place he had mentioned to me is a place called Holeman & Finch Public House, and it just might be one of the best recommendations anyone has ever given me. continue reading »

Motz’s Burgers

December 18th, 2011 by Erik Chudy

awesome buildingSo I just spent a few days in Detroit, and while I typically try to line up several meals when I go to a new city, I knew that I would be very busy with work and somewhat at the mercy of my coworkers. I kind of poked around to ask a few people online as well as a few coworkers in Detroit, and even got a few suggestions but didn’t really get to research them ahead of time. My coworker in Vegas sent me a link to a total dive place called Motz’s Burgers a week before we left and even printed a map to it, but still didn’t really plan on going there at any point. Just as predicted the trip was jam packed and extremely busy, but I did manage to squeeze out one amazing burger for breakfast on the way to the airport my last morning, and that place happened to be the one he printed. continue reading »

Bachi Burger revisited

October 1st, 2011 by Erik Chudy

Ronin burgerI don’t know if anyone could ever convince me to re-review a restaurant, my first impression is typically good enough for me, and should be for everyone else.  Even if you argue that I went to a location on an ‘off day’ I could really care less, if you are a professional and have opened a restaurant, there should be no such thing as an off day. I will however, go back to a place just for the pure enjoyment if it is good enough. Such is the case with Bachi Burger. I went many months ago, it’s been one of the best burgers I’ve had in Vegas to date and I’ve had many people ask to go there with me. I’ve been twice in the last two weeks, and I’m not sure if I’m glad I went back. continue reading »

The Burger Week From Hell

August 21st, 2011 by Erik Chudy

Boston Burger Blog’s visit to Vegas, or what I’d like to call ‘The Burger Week from Hell’. Here’s a little story I’d like to tell you, a story that actually spawned this very site.  My brother, the creator and writer of the Boston Burger Blog decided to visit last December for a few days. As the trip neared, we wanted to nail down what meals we would be eating during his stay, or more importantly, what burger joints we needed to try. He was going to be here for about 5 full days, but the list was already around 15 locations and didn’t leave any room for any other types of food we might want. During these discussions we quickly realized that this was about to become a challenge to see which one of us could actually consume burgers for the entire 5 days he would be here. continue reading »

Wild Game Sliders

August 15th, 2011 by Erik Chudy

wild game slidersSince this site is still fairly new, I don’t want to stray from my burger reviews with so many places in town yet to try, but I feel compelled to talk about an interesting meal I had last week.  My girlfriend and I wanted to try something different for dinner, and I quickly remembered hearing about the wild game sliders that they serve over at the Chicago Brewing Company. One thing I like almost as much as burgers is trying weird and new foods, this promised to do just that.

Greetings, hungry reader

July 1st, 2011 by Erik Chudy

Welcome to the Vegas Burger Blog.  I am your host Erik Chudy, and I’m here to nitpick and complain about every burger in the Las Vegas area.  Some of you might be thinking, “you seem like a jerk, you’re already admitting to complaining about a burger you haven’t even tried yet” and you’d be right.  But I have good reason.  See, most burger places regularly serve sub-par burgers, and I think a majority of you are easily impressed.  It’s my job to go around town, try all these burgers, and provide an honest opinion so that the public is properly informed.  It’s probably not going to help me lose any weight, but this is how I sacrifice myself for the common good.  Yea, I’m nice like that. continue reading »
