Burger Bistro (A Second Take)

March 25th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

onions! For the first time I’m providing you with a second take on a burger meal from a guest reviewer, Lou. Lou is a regular reader and fan of the blog, and also a colleague of mine who shares a passion for burgers and food overall. While this might not be the best meal to have a second review for, it’s still great to read another opinion on the same experience. Here is his review along with a couple photos: continue reading »

Positivity Rules Here

February 25th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

There is a disturbing trend occurring in the Las Vegas writing world right now, a plague of positivity and ass kissing that I’m afraid is turning our restaurant owners, chefs and consumers into overly sensitive wimps. While I’m personally friends with some of these folks and hate to call them out, take a look at ANY food review in the Seven, Las Vegas Weekly, Review Journal or post from one of our local ‘celebrities’ and you will see nothing but positivity, brown nosing and praise. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an article suggesting a chef could have done better, that maybe they caught the restaurant on an off night, or that the service was bad. I assume this is usually a case of the restaurant knowing the reviewer is sitting there, so they’ve taken extra care to make sure the meal, service and experience are as perfect as possible preventing a risk for complaints. I also respect the fact that with very limited word counts, magazines like the Weekly want to use their valuable real estate to tell us about something good out there, but I feel like we’re being coddled a bit. Meanwhile the average person is continually getting sub-par service, overpriced lazy food from a majority of the Strip restaurants, and inconsistency across the board. continue reading »

Boise Burger Adventure 2

January 14th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

Over the Christmas holiday I took another trip up to Boise for a week to visit some family; as with most of my trips to other cities I find myself tracking down the better-known burger joints. In a continuing effort to keep myself from getting too fat, I limited my burger intake to just two on this week long trip. Here’s my quick take on those meals. continue reading »

The 22 Hour San Francisco Trip

December 31st, 2012 by Erik Chudy

Continuing my adventures outside of Vegas, I recently took a quick 22 hour trip to San Francisco for a night. On this trip I sadly ate 3(!!!) burgers; two are worth mentioning and one was a very late night, drunken mishap. I will tell you about two of them, and we will never speak about the third. Got it? continue reading »

Bittercreek Alehouse/Red Feather Lounge

December 24th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

good looking friesFor my out of state readers or just those curious to read about my burger adventures outside of Vegas, I’m going to write a few articles about places I’ve been to in recent weeks. I don’t plan on making these reviews as long-winded or detailed as my typical reviews, I just want to give you folks an idea of what’s out there in other cities. I’ve eaten quite a few burgers in Boston over the past couple years, but I’ll save any write-ups there for Burger Boy and focus on Boise in this case. continue reading »

Boise Fry Company

August 24th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

purple fries!I recently had the pleasure of visiting Boise for the first time, and like I do with all new cities my first thought is “where should I eat?” So I reached out to my twitter followers for opinions and quickly got back the Boise Fry Company. The website features a clip of their restaurant featured on the Food Network, and touts some very interesting potato choices and healthy cooking methods so this instantly made my trip all the more exciting. And although they take a second stage to the fries, the burgers looked really good. So how did my Boise burger adventure turn out? continue reading »

The Burger Party

May 24th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

it's burger time!Like some of my favorite bourbons, I believe I get better with age. A little over a week ago I turned 35 and it’s kind of a scary thing. It’s not all bad though, I’m probably in better shape than I was 10 years ago even considering the fact that I eat multiple burgers a week. In fact, I even won a Summer Body Challenge recently while maintaining this all-burger diet so my readers can continue to get my opinion on all things burger in Vegas. My birthday really hasn’t gotten much attention in the last several years aside from a few phone calls from immediate family and the dozens and dozens of Facebook ‘friends’ that come out of the woodwork to post an obligatory ‘happy birthday’ comment. I don’t want to sound ungrateful, as that thought is still much appreciated, but it isn’t quite the pomp and circumstance that some of my other friends often receive around their birthdays. continue reading »
