PUB 1842

July 26th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

big bunI still think that one of my most surprising burger meals of the year came from a restaurant that is unfortunately closed now, Nobhill. It was a Vegas institution for over 12 years until it closed in March, and I somehow missed eating there until just before it left us. But with that sad bit of news came something positive; a new Michael Mina restaurant to take over the old Seablue space by the name of PUB 1842. We all secretly hoped that a replacement burger would be made there, and were even given hints at something fantastic during some preview events, so after giving them a few weeks to get their kinks worked out I made my way over just to see what they came up with. continue reading »

Citizens Kitchen and Bar

July 19th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

argh waffle fries!Other than a small handful of places I probably need to try, I feel like I’ve probably experienced most of the decent burgers in town at this point and am starting to fish for restaurants that serve an ok burger. Such is the case with Citizens Kitchen & Bar that recently opened in Mandalay Bay. No one has suggested I try their burger, but it’s a venue that pushes their comfort food, and what speaks more to that than a burger? Plus, with the rapidly declining quality of Burger Bar, Mandalay is in desperate need of a good burger. So could this be it? continue reading »

Miller’s Bar

July 15th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

stop here!Since I’ve been out of town more than I’ve been around lately, I’m here once again to report on some burgers I’ve eaten in other cities. Some of you might find these reviews completely useless, but I’m always curious to check out the burger scene in other places and I have to maintain my weekly burger intake somehow. This week’s burger comes out of a 72 year old establishment in Dearborn named Miller’s Bar, a place that a friend has been talking about for almost two years and was a long overdue visit. Within the next week I will be writing about a couple of burgers I ate in San Diego, as well as a Vegas burger to satisfy the locals. continue reading »

The VBB iPhone app is Here!

July 12th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

map viewIf the service of going all over town to find the best burgers around for you guys wasn’t enough, I’m now here to provide you with the most useful tool for locating one of those burgers in your direct vicinity (as long as you have an iPhone). As of yesterday my new app is now available to download; it has access to all of my reviews to date, and will display the new ones as I post them. And to top it off, there’s even a map of every location I’ve been to, which links directly to its corresponding review!

We’ve already gotten some great feedback for tweaks and additions since it was released, but if you think of anything that could be useful or just have some comments about it, please send them along.

So go download it, and enjoy!

Roxy’s Diner

July 9th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

looks okBusy with work and summer trips, my opportunities to knock off burgers on my to-do list have been limited lately, hence the infrequent posts. And because of this I have been forced to do some less than ideal locations based on proximity to my office and random opportunities. This leads us directly to our next adventure at Roxy’s Diner inside the Stratosphere; a property certainly not known for fine dining by any locals or pretty much anyone that’s interested in good food despite one of the Yelp ‘reviews’ claiming that the Stratosphere has “the best food options on the strip”. Laughable indeed, just as much as this meal.  continue reading »
