Windy City Beefs N Pizza

January 21st, 2013 by Erik Chudy

I hate baskets!Even though my writing isn’t necessarily perfect, I’m here to give you a grammar lesson in addition to my opinion this week. After some burger plans fell through late last week, I scrambled to find a place to review with some very short notice and little time, and headed over to the apparently grammar-challenging Windy City Beefs ‘N Pizza restaurant. People have a hard enough time determining when to place an apostrophe in a pluralized or possessive word, this one promised to bring me several iterations. In addition to presenting me with plenty of silly things to complain about, did it deliver a decent burger? continue reading »

Boise Burger Adventure 2

January 14th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

Over the Christmas holiday I took another trip up to Boise for a week to visit some family; as with most of my trips to other cities I find myself tracking down the better-known burger joints. Poppy Den

January 9th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

looks goodSpoiler alert: just like Town Square, Tivoli Village doesn’t have any good places to dine. In fact, Tivoli might be one of the larger development failures in recent years in Las Vegas. I found nothing good at Bottles & Burgers which recently closed, and I don’t think anyone in town could tell you the name of another restaurant there. Now we welcome Poppy Den, the latest restaurant to open in this cursed shopping area. This place is brought to us by Chef Angelo Sosa from Top Chef D.C. and Top Chef All Stars which really means nothing to me as I don’t watch any of those. Still, with those credentials it promised maybe something good. Right? continue reading »

Gordon Ramsay BurGR

that's a good looking burger! You’d think that after a couple years of eating burgers one would run out of places to go in a small-ish city like Las Vegas, yet my to-do list is constantly growing with places I’ve never heard of. And now along comes celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay with not one but three new restaurants in the past several months, including BurGR at the Planet Hollywood. There has been much hype about all of his new locations, especially Gordon Ramsay Steak at the Paris which supposedly has a 3 month backup for reservations, so the food must be good right? This made my expectations very high for one of his restaurants devoted solely to my favorite meal. But could it possibly deliver? continue reading »

Rattlecan (CLOSED)

January 2nd, 2013 by Erik Chudy

BK?Ever since I first got word of Rattlecan on the Eater website many months ago I’ve been excited about it; not only did it look totally cool, but it was backed by Chef Sammy D who has already made a pretty great burger in town. A few weeks before it opened I was able to do a quick walkthrough with a Venetian employee which did nothing to calm my excitement either. Plus since it opened, I’ve had many friends and readers chime in with how good the burgers are. All this has built up to quite the hype, so when I finally ventured in there this past weekend I was expecting quite a bit. So how did it hold up to all the pressure? continue reading »
