The 22 Hour San Francisco Trip

December 31st, 2012 by Erik Chudy

Continuing my adventures outside of Vegas, I recently took a quick 22 hour trip to San Francisco for a night. On this trip I sadly ate 3(!!!) burgers; two are worth mentioning and one was a very late night, drunken mishap. I will tell you about two of them, and we will never speak about the third. Got it? continue reading »

Bittercreek Alehouse/Red Feather Lounge

December 24th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

good looking friesFor my out of state readers or just those curious to read about my burger adventures outside of Vegas, I’m going to write a few articles about places I’ve been to in recent weeks. I don’t plan on making these reviews as long-winded or detailed as my typical reviews, I just want to give you folks an idea of what’s out there in other cities. I’ve eaten quite a few burgers in Boston over the past couple years, but I’ll save any write-ups there for Burger Boy and focus on Boise in this case. continue reading »

English’s Quintessentially British (CLOSED)

December 24th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

look at all the tomato!I kind of hate going to completely unplanned restaurants and getting a burger; I think I’ve been around town long enough as the ‘Burger Blogger’ to have heard most of the places that people think I need to try, so when an opportunity to eat at English’s Quintessentially British came up I was quite skeptical. The burger picture on their website actually looked decent, not like I would want to judge anything based on photo alone, but I did become slightly more optimistic. But as all us locals hopefully know by now, there really isn’t any good food options at Town Square other than Meatball Spot. And to ruin the surprise, this meal didn’t change that. continue reading »

Honey Salt

December 18th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

pretty burgerIt’s not very often any more that I’m excited to try a new burger in town, and when I do I really have to make a conscious effort to not set myself up for disappointment. Honey Salt recently opened in Summerlin, and as an overall foodie I’ve been very excited to try this new spot. While I didn’t make it there too often, I always enjoyed Nora’s that used to be in the space, both the menu and farm-to-table concept of its replacement gave me much hope. So after impatiently waiting a few weeks to let the crowds die down I finally ventured in there for dinner one night (and ran into foodie friend Splurgemonkey). Did it disappoint? continue reading »

Tacos & Tequila

December 12th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

where's my fries?

I hate straying from my always growing burger to-do list, but I was recently out at lunch with some contractors and there happened to be a burger lunch special at the Mexican restaurant we were eating at so I was peer pressured into it. I try to plan my burger meals around my work schedule or where I’ll be during parts of the week, so I figured walking into Tacos & Tequila at the Luxor I’d be able to avoid an unplanned burger and mess up my plans later in the week. Other than the Double Del at Del Taco, I can’t say I’ve had many burgers at Mexican restaurants so I really wasn’t expecting much, but couldn’t say no to the audience at my table that wanted to witness a burger review in the making. Were they able to witness anything decent? continue reading »

Biscuits 2 Burgers

December 3rd, 2012 by Erik Chudy

that's a lot of lettuce! After discovering that Carlos’ Kitchen closed the day before I got there, I scrambled to find somewhere else close by to get a burger recently. I remembered that a workout friend told me about a new place near our gym called Biscuits 2 Burgers so I thought I’d seek it out. They pretty much don’t exist online still; no official website, no Yelp page, so I started driving west on Tropicana until I found it. Despite all of this, was my experience encouraging enough to keep this place around? continue reading »

Upper Deck Grill and Sports Lounge (CLOSED)

November 26th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

another plain setupThere are many best of burger lists popping up on Yelp and other sites around town, and everyone is trying to interject their secret unknown spot to be included on the list. That’s how I came across Upper Deck Grill and Sports Lounge, and it seems like people are really starting to fetch for a unique location to be included. I love places like the Dispensary Lounge, Badger Café and other off-strip locations, and get a little hesitant when they start entering tourist areas, so you can imagine my hesitation with walking into a golf center. continue reading »
