Burger Bar

November 20th, 2011 by Erik Chudy

dig in!Unlike most of the places I review on this blog, Burger Bar is a place I can write a review on based strictly on memory. Still, given the opportunity a few days ago to stop in there for lunch I didn’t hesitate. Besides, I didn’t have any quality pictures to post until that point.  Because I’ve been here so many times I was almost nervous that I would give this restaurant preferential treatment, but since I’ve been taking a way more analytical approach to my burgers lately I found that Burger Bar wasn’t quite the perfection I remembered it.  But it was still close. continue reading »

eat me!I know I’ve been trying to avoid the touristy locations on the strip, but with all the meetings I have there it’s too convenient to duck into something nearby and get back to the office. This is exactly what happened when I ventured into Stripburger the other day, and I’m glad I did. I’m starting to get very skeptical of restaurants in general located on the strip due to the fact that they don’t really have to try and yet mass amounts of tourists will still flock to them, so I welcome the surprise. continue reading »

Slidin’ Thru HQ (CLOSED)

November 13th, 2011 by Erik Chudy

three is usually better than oneFood trucks have become a huge trend these days, but I’m not one to fight lines and hunt them down around town. I’d much rather go to a fixed location and order something whenever I want, which is why I had to take a trip to Slidin’ Thru HQ to see if the sliders in their restaurant are any better than the ones on their truck. Simple answer: nope. continue reading »

Create (CLOSED)

October 30th, 2011 by Erik Chudy

looks normal...I have been to Create a couple times in the past year or two, but not since I started the blog so I was long overdue for a return trip and full analysis. I remember liking it well enough in the past, so I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve had a string of not-so-good burgers lately but I left this most recent meal extremely happy. I know you’re not used to hearing these words lately around here, so please read on. continue reading »

Original Tommy’s Hamburgers

October 29th, 2011 by Erik Chudy

boring!Due to some recent unfortunate dining events, the VBB will no longer be taking recommendations from friends when it relates to large chains of burger joints. This very much refers to yesterday’s meal I had at Tommy’s, which was less than ideal and left my stomach a bit unhappy. There’s clearly no suspense in this review but I’ll go ahead and give you my full rundown anyway. continue reading »

PJ Clarke’s (CLOSED)

October 23rd, 2011 by Erik Chudy

can you find my onion?I have a list of ‘burgers to try’ in the notes section of my phone that has been slowly growing, I have no idea where most of them came from. Many are recommendations from readers, while some are from articles in local papers touting the ‘best unknown burger’ or something like that.  PJ Clarke’s is one such place. I didn’t remember where the suggestion came from walking in, but our waitress reminded us that the Las Vegas Weekly had claimed theirs the ‘best burger in Las Vegas.’  Do I agree?

Farmer Boys

October 9th, 2011 by Erik Chudy

too much lettuce!Burger Boy put it best, if a place claims to be the ‘World’s Greatest’ it is typically a recipe for disaster. That’s about what I expected as I walked in to Farmer Boys and took a quick look around their restaurant. Cheesy décor, white trash…have I just arrived in NASCAR heaven? I must say though, this ended up being a little better than I thought. continue reading »
