Motz’s Burgers

December 18th, 2011 by Erik Chudy

awesome buildingSo I just spent a few days in Detroit, and while I typically try to line up several meals when I go to a new city, I knew that I would be very busy with work and somewhat at the mercy of my coworkers. I kind of poked around to ask a few people online as well as a few coworkers in Detroit, and even got a few suggestions but didn’t really get to research them ahead of time. My coworker in Vegas sent me a link to a total dive place called Motz’s Burgers a week before we left and even printed a map to it, but still didn’t really plan on going there at any point. Just as predicted the trip was jam packed and extremely busy, but I did manage to squeeze out one amazing burger for breakfast on the way to the airport my last morning, and that place happened to be the one he printed. continue reading »

I Love Burgers

December 18th, 2011 by Erik Chudy

looks ok...Have you ever gone to a restaurant and remembered having a great experience, only to return and find yourself very disappointed? Such is the case with my most recent visit to I Love Burgers. I first went about a year ago before I had started the blog and have been meaning to go back and give a proper review based on that impression. Sadly now I wish I hadn’t returned because my view has been tainted. continue reading »

Henry’s American Grill

December 18th, 2011 by Erik Chudy

looks basic, but how does it taste?I feel like I’m finally getting further into the realm of unique local Vegas spots off the strip, which is great not just for the blog but also my bank account. The $19 burgers in the casinos are starting to take a toll on me, literally, so coming across the $4.99(!) burger at Henry’s American Grill in Henderson was exciting and promised big things based on all the Yelp comments. And although I had a couple complaints as I always do, this turned out to be a good visit. continue reading »

The Martini

December 3rd, 2011 by Erik Chudy

I like pretzel buns!A friend recently sent me a burger top 10 list from the Review Journal which included many local spots, the likes of which I’ve been trying to track down since starting this blog. Being the dummy that I am, I didn’t pay attention to the date the article was posted until I tried to visit one of the locations only to find their kitchen is no longer open. Still determined to eat a burger that night, I tried a second location which had almost the same name but a totally different burger. That place is now called The Martini, and the burger was still really good. continue reading »

Comme Ca

December 3rd, 2011 by Erik Chudy

that's a lot of fries! It’s not every day that I would think to go into a French restaurant to try a burger, and honestly I had zero intentions of doing so when I went to Comme Ca recently with a few friends, but peer pressure prevailed and the ‘burger guy’ was talked into ordering one. At $19 I figured I was getting myself into something somewhat decent, but there’s a reason I don’t usually order a burger at a French restaurant: they’re not good. continue reading »

LBS Burger Joint (CLOSED)

November 26th, 2011 by Erik Chudy

LBS ClassicTrying to knock off as many requests from readers as I can, I recently ventured to Red Rock to check out LBS; who touts themselves as “the best burger in Las Vegas.” I’ve heard many positive comments about this burger, and I was quite nervous coming into it since it was in a casino location. With the opportunity for them to be lazy and overpriced, they didn’t disappoint, but some very important questions arose. continue reading »

Rachel’s Kitchen

November 20th, 2011 by Erik Chudy

doesn't look horribleI have this great fantasy that I’m going to stumble not knowing into some great burger discovery, so every once in a while I go against my intuition and order a burger at a place that’s really not known for them. Such is the case with my recent trip to Rachel’s Kitchen, and based on this experience I clearly shouldn’t bet on the upcoming super bowl. continue reading »
